The Story Behind the Film

Over the years, Columbus Hospice has remained a pillar of compassionate end-of-life care within our community.   They have orchestrated various fundraising events, including Denim and Diamonds, to continue providing compassionate care to those needing end-of-life support.

With a history of collaboration with Incolr, Terri, the Vice President of Business Development at Columbus Hospice, reached out once again, this time with a desire to do something a little different from the previous fundraising efforts.  This inspired the idea to create a fundraiser that involved storytelling and educating the world on how hospice and the community work together to support those who do not have the means for end-of-life care.

Upon its initial presentation to Columbus Hospice, the script deeply resonated with Terri personally. As it was shared with Donna, CEO of Columbus Hospice, she emphasized the crucial role of non-profit hospice care and the concerning decline of non-profit hospice facilities nationwide. The mission became abundantly clear: the short film would not only serve as a local fundraising tool but also as a means to raise awareness about non-profit hospice organizations. As the number of non-profit hospices decreases annually across the nation, it was important to Columbus Hospice that we educate people about the impact a non-profit hospice makes within communities.

As the project fell into place, the timing couldn't have been more perfect,  aligning with November, designated as Hospice Awareness Month. The plan took shape: use the film to host a fundraiser benefiting Columbus Hospice and then utilize it throughout November to amplify the message about the invaluable role of non-profit hospice care and the decline in non-profit hospice facilities. While this project is rooted in the local community, our ultimate aspiration is to share it on a national scale, raising awareness about the decline in non-profit hospice facilities and emphasizing their profound benefits to communities nationwide.

As the project advanced, personal stories from those involved revealed personal connections to the narrative of "Sister." It became evident that this story resonates across generations. Non-profit hospice care is a cherished blessing for communities, and the mission was clear: spread the word to ensure its preservation.

When individuals have exhausted all resources in their healing journey and require end-of-life care, the community-funded support of a non-profit hospice becomes their lifeline. It serves the caregivers and those cared for, representing a profound source of compassion. "Sister" embodies this beauty, and it's a story that speaks to the hearts of manyā€”a tale that we know will resonate deeply with those who watch it. Our collective hope is that "Sister" will serve as a powerful tool for raising awareness and preserving the legacy of non-profit hospice care while also generating support for Columbus Hospice through our local community.
